Today’s photo is another railroad related post.
While taking some shots around the old railroad station, a train came through and I was fortunate enough to catch it in my lens.
The railroad coming through to Mount Pleasant has played an important role in its development over the years. In 1876, Mount Pleasant welcomed its first railroad track from the East Line and Red River Railroad Company, and has played a part in Mount Pleasant’s history ever since. My grandfather’s first job out of high school was for the local railroad, as a bookkeeper, and before too long he began his career at Lone Star Steel, where he worked until he retired in the late 1980s.
